Fog series tea caddy by Kim Dong-Wan
There are two main ways to process glass: one is to mold molten glass and the other is to reprocess the surface of the molded glass. The artist mainly uses a blowing technique that completes the shape by rolling melted glass on the end of an iron pipe and blowing it with his mouth.
Also called the "flower of glass," this work requires skilled craftsmanship and high concentration in a limited amount of time to complete the shape he wants. It's hard work, but not only in the high sense of accomplishment but it also has a symbolic meaning of invoking human breath to complete it.
The "Fog Series," which generated bubbles from soda in transparent glass, can be said to be works that emphasized the transparency of glass and the beauty of its shape.
